Plates have absorbed some moisture on edges, otherwise a clean copy. Vol. 2 has occasional small library stamps and a different binding, leather spine, marbled boards, front cover nearly detached, frontispiece detached. Plates show Port Cook on Staten Island, Pendulum Cove on Deception Island in the South Shetland Group, St. Martin's Cove, near cape Horn (interesting scene showing a hut and some Tierra del Fuego Aborigines), Ascension Island, Teneriffe, Isthmus of Darien. Bief description of an interesting meeting with the American Sealer Captain Palmer after who Palmer Peninsula is named.
